Current emergency and disaster healthcare and rescue services have no information other than location (and even that is often imprecise).
Efforts to coordinate and allocate resources are challenged, i.e., getting the right people to the right place, at the right time, with the right treatment or service.
Lack of critical health information increases the probability of poor health outcomes and highlights underlying inequities related to the social determinants of health (people in substandard housing, remote locations, etc.).
The problem is going to increase with the number of unpredictable climate-related disasters, increased focus on inequitable distribution of emergency healthcare services, and constant and cumbersome HIPAA compliance requirements.
The scale of the problem is global and expanding. Here in the US alone, the CDC estimates 61 million people are living with a functional disability.
The need for American Rescue Associates solutions extends beyond people with chronic functional disabilities. Pregnant women and others, such as cancer patients, patients requiring refrigerated medication, and/or those living alone with acute injuries or short-term diagnoses may also require evacuation assistance during an emergency.
In partnership with multiple jurisdictions is the planned development of a “Free for All” government funded Pre-Rescue/Priority Rescue™ emergency preparedness basic application, distributed by mobile carriers, that will allow end-users to create a very simple PreRescue™ medical profile and pre-register themselves and their loved ones to receive evacuation assistance if there is sufficient time leading up to a climate related event.
Or in instances, such as a tornado, where there is not time to evacuate vulnerable people in advance, Priority Rescues™ by first responders will begin immediately following the impact of an event for those that have pre-registered for PreRescue/Priority Rescue™.
